The Ultimate Beef Onion Stir Fry

A quick and flavorful Beef Onion Stir Fry, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Before you turn on the heat, get everything sliced, diced, and ready to go.
  2. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the beef strips with the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Heat the Oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Stir Fry the Beef: Add the marinated beef into the pan in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
  5. Cook the Onions: In the same pan, add the sliced onions and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until softened and caramelized.
  6. Add Garlic: Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute, being careful not to let it burn.
  7. Combine Everything: Return the beef to the pan, stirring together with the onions and garlic. Add a splash of water or beef broth if desired.
  8. Final Seasoning: Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
  9. Serve it Up: Plate your stir fry over a bed of rice and enjoy!
