Patriotic Meringue Kisses

Light and airy meringue kisses in red, white, and blue, perfect for summer celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 cup superfine sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whip the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed, adding salt and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  3. Add sugar gradually while mixing on high until stiff peaks form and mixture is glossy.
  4. Divide the meringue in half, adding red food coloring to one half and blue to the other.
  5. Pipe kisses onto the baking sheet using a piping bag for a rustic look.
  6. Bake for about 90 minutes or until dry to the touch.
  7. Cool in the oven for an hour after baking.
