Baked Apple Fritters

Baked apple fritters are the perfect blend of sweet, soft, and slightly spiced deliciousness, all tucked into a comforting, cake-like batter.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar together in a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the milk, unsweetened applesauce, vanilla extract, and melted butter in another bowl.
  4. Chop your peeled apples into small chunks.
  5. Combine the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples.
  7. Scoop the batter into a greased muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the fritters for a few minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  10. Enjoy warm with maple syrup or whipped cream.

Notes

These fritters can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen and reheated later.
