The Perfect Rice Pilaf

A delicious and elegant rice pilaf enhanced with aromatic onions, garlic, and fresh herbs.

  • 1 cup long-grain rice (like basmati or jasmine)
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or dill) for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients: Chop the onion and garlic.
  2. Sauté the onion: Heat olive oil or butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, add onions and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft.
  3. Add garlic: Once onions are ready, add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add the rice: Stir in the rice, coating the grains for about 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the broth: Carefully add the chicken or vegetable broth, stir to combine, and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil: Turn heat up to bring it to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  7. Let it steam: Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes off the heat.
  8. Fluff and serve: Remove lid and fluff rice gently with a fork, adding fresh herbs if desired.
