French Almond Tart

An exquisite dessert that perfectly combines simplicity and elegance, bringing the taste of a Parisian café to your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup almond meal
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 2 large eggs (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by combining all-purpose flour, softened butter, and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Mix until the dough resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the large egg and mix until just combined.
  3. Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  4. Blind bake the crust by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and rolling out the chilled dough in a tart pan, trimming the excess, piercing the bottom, and baking for 15 minutes.
  5. Make the filling by combining almond meal, granulated sugar, softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract in a separate bowl and whisking until smooth.
  6. Pour the almond mixture into the baked crust and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for another 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and lightly golden.
  8. Garnish with sliced almonds on top and allow to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Serve with freshly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and garnish with fresh berries and a dusting of powdered sugar.
