Homemade Apple Cider

Warm and cozy homemade apple cider made from fresh apples and spices, perfect for autumn gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 10 Fresh Apples (mix of sweet and tart varieties)
  • 1 Orange (sliced)
  • 1 Cup Sugar (optional)
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Teaspoon Whole Cloves
  • Water (enough to cover the apples, about 10-12 cups)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing and quartering them, leaving the skins on.
  2. Combine the quartered apples and orange slices in a large pot or slow cooker.
  3. Cook the mixture, boiling and then simmering or using a slow cooker for 6-8 hours.
  4. Mash the apples with a potato masher once they are tender.
  5. Strain the cider using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to extract juice.
  6. Taste the cider and adjust sweetness or spices as desired.
  7. Serve warm or chill and enjoy!

Notes

Serve warm garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon or an orange slice. Perfect with pumpkin bread or spiced cookies.
