Mediterranean Ground Beef Pita Pockets

Quick and flavorful pita pockets filled with seasoned ground beef and fresh vegetables, perfect for weeknight dinners.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita pockets
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and brown evenly for 7-10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika over the beef. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Warm the pita pockets in a toaster, oven, or pan until pliable.
  6. Assemble by filling each pita pocket with the beef mixture, followed by lettuce, tomato, cucumber, feta, and tzatziki sauce.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.
