World’s Easiest Chocolate Mousse Recipe

A quick and easy chocolate mousse that is perfect for entertaining or a cozy night in. This dessert combines rich chocolate with a light, airy texture.

  • 1 cup (175g) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (300ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
  • Optional: whipped cream and chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and water. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is smooth (about 1-1.5 minutes).
  2. Add the vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract once the chocolate is melted and glossy.
  3. Whip the cream: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream and sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine: Fold one-third of the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture, then fold in the remaining whipped cream gently.
  5. Chill: Spoon the mousse into serving cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and fresh berries for garnish. This mousse can be made ahead of time and kept in the fridge for 2-3 days.
