Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars

A cozy fall treat that combines the flavors of pumpkin and chocolate in delicious bars.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream the unsalted butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add pumpkin puree and eggs, mixing until combined.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the bars in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These bars can be served dusted with powdered sugar or with a dollop of whipped cream. They also freeze well for up to three months.
