Sticky Sweet Bourbon Chicken

A flavorful and nostalgic dish that combines sweet bourbon with juicy chicken, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep your chicken: Start by washing the chicken thighs and patting them dry with a paper towel. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs, cooking for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  3. Create the sauce: While the chicken is searing, mix together bourbon, honey, minced garlic, and soy sauce in a bowl.
  4. Combine and cook: Pour the sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Thicken it up: If you prefer a thicker sauce, increase the heat to medium-high and let it boil for a couple of minutes until the sauce reduces.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, and sprinkle chopped green onions over the top before serving with your favorite sides.
