French Cherry Clafoutis

A delightfully simple yet decadent French dessert filled with juicy cherries, reminiscent of summer days.

  • 1 cup cherries, pitted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash your cherries under cool water, then pit them.
  3. Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl until light and frothy.
  4. Mix in the milk, then gradually add flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
  5. Prepare a 9-inch pie dish by greasing it with butter or cooking spray.
  6. Add half of the batter to the dish, sprinkle with cherries, and pour the remaining batter on top.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool for 10-15 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.

Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat.
