Cherry Dump Cake

An easy and delicious dessert featuring sweet cherries topped with a buttery cake mix, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Canned cherries in syrup or cherry pie filling: 42 oz (about 2 cans)
  • OR Fresh cherries, pitted: 5 cups
  • Granulated sugar: 1/3 cup
  • Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
  • Yellow cake mix: 1 box (approximately 15.25 oz)
  • Unsalted butter: 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks), melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the cherry layer by pouring canned cherries into a mixing bowl or pitting and chopping fresh cherries and mixing with sugar and lemon juice.
  3. Layer the cherry mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Mix the yellow cake mix and sprinkle it over the cherries.
  5. Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
  8. Dish out and serve warm.

Notes

For serving, add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for extra deliciousness. You can also experiment with variations such as using fresh peaches or adding dark chocolate chips.
