Delightful Cherry Bars embodying sweet cherry filling and buttery cake, perfect for sharing memories.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (about 21 ounces)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish with grease or cooking spray.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract afterwards.
  5. Mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just blended.
  7. Spread half of the batter in the prepared baking dish.
  8. Add the cherry pie filling over the batter.
  9. Top with spoonfuls of the remaining batter.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
  11. Cool for 10 minutes before glazing.
  12. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
